History: | The butte was named Endymion Dome by the US Board on Geographic Names in March 1906. However, in May 1906, it was renamed 'Marsh Butte' at the suggestion by George Wharton James to honor Othniel Charles Marsh (1831-1899), the American paleontologist (AZ-T101/. 387). |
